在去年最後一天往生的基隆黃色小鴨，今天(1月1日)經大氣層人員上午檢測完畢，瞭解其破損狀況及原因後，工作人員討論評估發現破損原因如下：前幾日基隆連日陰雨、且氣溫皆低，12月31日當天氣溫回暖、溫度上升，造成小鴨內部氣壓飆升，又因基隆小鴨因須抗衡東北季風之強風吹襲，故增加內部貼條，使得小鴨內部同壓力鍋一般，最後造成小鴨由內部向外破裂。

大氣層人員報告事發原因後，基隆市議長黃景泰立即召開應變會議討論克服方法，並由各界專業人士提出建議，最後決定於小鴨尾部增加風口，並於內部增設一台洩壓專用風機，當氣候轉換、氣溫變化時，開啟風機協助排氣，預計可有效避免小鴨破裂之狀況重演。

主辦單位說，目前基隆小鴨也已經修復完成，會再評估小鴨的修復痕跡，是否會影響其美觀後，讓基隆小鴨於本週六重新游回基隆港的懷抱。
