防空缺口　南印度洋無雷達偵測

馬航MH370可能在印度洋上空失蹤，也因此暴露了出亞洲印度洋南部沒有雷達和衞星覆蓋的防空缺口，即使發達如澳洲亦僅偵測到離岸100公里空域，對今次搜救幾乎是毫無幫助。

屬全球第三大洋的印度洋，若以雷達覆蓋率而言可說是荒蕪區域，周邊東南亞國家很多都礙於費用高昂，沒有全方位雷達設施覆蓋這個海域，即使有軍方雷達亦會在無用時關掉。

即使較為發達的澳洲，雖然西面對海就是印度洋，但雷達覆蓋範圍都僅限於離岸100公里之內，「任何超出100公里的都看不見」，從那裡橫越印度洋的客機，都是靠空中交通監察系統ADS-B作衞星定位。（國際中心／綜合外電報導）
