美國公布本屆世界盃足球賽23人名單，當中最引人注意的，就是老將Landon Donovan不在其中。

今年32歲的Landon Donovan，國際賽進球57個隊史第一，已經代表美國參加過3次世界盃。

Landon Donovan有在30人集訓名單當中，不過他之前也強調，自己不見得一定會入選世界盃美國隊23人。

主要是之前Landon Donovan休息了將近4個月，在會外賽表現也不突出，10場比賽只有出賽3場而已。

不過做為美國足球界的代表人物，總教練Jurgen Klinsmann仍把他選入30人名單之內，許多的球迷也十分關切這名老將能否在本屆世界盃再披上美國隊的戰袍。

Jurgen Klinsmann曾代表德國贏得1990年世界盃冠軍，也曾帶領德國隊在2006年打進四強，他在週四表示，這是他職業生涯最困難的一個決定。
