日本電子書總合情報網站ITmedia eBook USER報導，Sony於12日宣布，於2012年9月21日開賣的電子書閱讀器「Reader」系列機種「PRS-T2(見附圖)」售價將自9,980日圓調降至7,980日圓。Sony的「PRS-T2」採用元太(8069)電子紙。

報導指出，Sony在開賣新產品之前大多會調降現行產品的售價，加上海外已傳出Sony已向美國聯邦通信委員會(FCC)申請被視為是「PRS-T2」次世代機種的「PRS-T3」，故預估Sony可能將於近期內推出電子書閱讀器的新產品。

報導並指出，Sony支援3G服務的電子書閱讀器「Reader PRS-G1」已停止生產。
