衛生局舉行記者會說明今年擴大舉辦「憶起慢慢走」系列活動，讓市民對失智症有更進一步的認識。（記者黃村杉攝）

新北市政府衛生局長林雪蓉5日表示，失智症將是未來國人老化重要的社會議題。指新北市65歲以上長者有36萬多人，是全國老年人口最多的縣市，2012年衛生福利部調查，臺灣65歲以上長者失智症盛行率為4.97％，估算新北市失智症人口約1萬8千人。因此，衛生局今年擴大舉辦「憶起慢慢走」系列活動，讓市民對失智症有更進一步的認識。
衛生局表示，9月21日為國際失智症日，為增進民眾進一步認識失智症、多關心高齡父母健康，將自8月起舉辦一系列關懷活動，指9日有失智症社會資源分享會、23日瑞齡學堂成果發表會、31日及 9月7日 精選「昨日的記憶」、「阿嬤的夢中情人」強檔好片並有免費懷舊美食，以及 9月14日 的健康飲食營養講座，歡迎民眾打電話或上網報名參加。
衛生局提醒，觀察家中長者是否記憶減退影響到工作、無法勝任原本熟悉的事務、言語表達出現問題或是喪失對時間、地點的概念等，都是罹患失智症的警訊，千萬不要輕忽。民眾可自行上衛生局網站下載失智症篩檢量表，進行初步篩檢，如有疑似失智症狀可至各醫院精神科或神經內科作進一步失智篩檢。
