籃網休賽期間和塞爾提克進行驚天動地的大交易，包括「真理」Paul Puerce、Kevin Garnett等近年綠軍主將都被交易至籃網，其中Pierce更是這個世代球迷眼中的綠衫軍代表人物，他的轉隊讓許多塞爾提克迷不勝唏噓。
Pierce在接受《波士頓先鋒報》採訪時表示，自己會離開塞爾提克有諸多因素，而主力後衛Rajon Rondo的受傷是其中很重要的原因，更可以說是導致這一切發生的源頭。
「Rajon在下季季初無法上場，而且無論他需要多久時間來康復，都會讓我們（塞爾提克）失去競爭力，大家都發現了這一點，這也讓雙方（籃網、塞爾提克）更容易做出決定。」
Rajon Rondo是在1月25日面對老鷹時不慎弄傷右膝，並在27日時確定右膝十字韌帶撕裂，必須進行手術導致全季報銷。
「這對我來說很難抗拒，我可以預見球隊會有什麼下場。身為一名球員，我是很自私的，我其實想讓個人和球隊都有好的結果。」
「真理」坦言：「但這一切還是得取決於球隊管理階層，我想要球隊引進好手來競爭冠軍，他們卻注重更遠的未來，這讓我們彼此劃清了界線。」 (接下一頁)
