副總統吳敦義之女吳子安攜子出國度假，發現兒子因護照效期不足而尋求外交部人員幫忙，在機場臨時補辦護照，被批「特權服務」。吳敦義今（25）日表示，女兒因準備不周而用到「比一般國人印像中較高的待遇」，要虛心檢討；他說，如果帶給講求效率、服務也一直在提升的外交部困擾，「我覺得很不好意思」。
媒體報導，吳子安23日帶兒子前往帛琉度假時，因小孩護照效期不足6個月，被拒絕登機後臨時在機場由外交部人員幫忙補辦，外交部稱這是一般的便民服務，但對照外交部曾指明，「不受理在台國人臨櫃申請護照」，而一般民眾補辦護照最快也要隔天才完成，外交部被批評是服務特權。
對此，吳敦義上午出席祖孫嘉年華活動時受訪表示，女兒當時沒跟他通電話，小朋友的護照上也不會寫外祖父（吳敦義）的名字，絕對沒有所謂特權，他事先也不知情，所以沒有報導所稱吳子安「還逛免稅店」的事情。
吳敦義說，外交部近年推動許多便民措施，像是台灣獲得超過130個國家地區免簽證，對旅行團或國人在海外特殊狀況提供幫忙，以及針對急件辦理快速發放新護照等，效率都有顯著提升。
吳敦義說，旅行是一件小事，但因女兒準備不周，需要用到「比一般國人印像中較高的待遇」，「不平則鳴嘛」，要虛心檢討，
他說，如果帶給講求效率、服務也一直在提升的外交部困擾，「我覺得很不好意思」。
