捍衛大埔巡守隊召集人林一方所開設的竹南咖啡廳，是守護大埔青年學生的聚會地點，但在8月20日、8月24日兩度被不明人士砸破玻璃，警告意味濃厚。林一方今（26）日表示，此案影響非常大，每個人都活在恐懼之中，希望警政署限期破案。
民進黨立委陳其邁諷刺說，他建議「林一方趕快辦一張黨證，順便認吳敦義做阿公！」
林一方在大埔抗議學生陳為廷、傅偉哲、林羿含，以及民進黨立委陳其邁、高志鵬等人的陪同下召開記者會。陳為廷質疑，警察只會保護縣市首長，任由抗議者的店被砸嗎？到底警察是做什麼用的？
苗栗縣警察局主任祕書高誌良表明案件偵辦中，但未說明偵辦進度。至於警力在苗栗縣長劉政鴻的家門，拿長槍保護，已是行政院長規格，高誌良說，他要查清楚，再提供資料。
