由於水手外野手Michael Saunders肩膀受傷，本季在3A練等的Jesus Montero得以重返大聯盟，這一戰對上教士，Montero敲出生涯首轟，展現自己價值，助水手終場以6比1贏球。

教士在2局上靠Rene Rivera開轟率先攻下1分，下半局，Montero隨即轟出2分砲，回敬對手，水手超前比數。

這位昔日的強打捕手去年因為禁藥疑雲，遭禁賽50場，在本季春訓歸隊、自3A出發，Montero出賽59場，繳出8支全壘打、40分打點，打擊率2成70。

「很感激球隊願意給我機會，過去一年對我來說，真的很艱辛，漸漸地，我在3A的努力，球隊看見了，他們又給我一次機會，真的很高興他們沒有放棄我，現在我才能站在這裡，幫助球隊贏球。」Montero在賽後說道。

此外，Montero的兩分彈，讓先發投手Roenis Elias吃下定心丸，繳出7局失1分的優質內容，耗球數87顆，60顆好球，僅被敲3安，飆出6次三振，奪得勝投，戰績6勝5敗，防禦率3.91。

這位來自古巴的投手透過翻譯表示：「今天對我來說真棒，我盡力控制出局數，感謝老天讓我們有不錯的結果。」
