美國國家安全顧問麥克唐納接受國家廣播公司「與媒體見面」節目專訪時說，如果伊斯蘭國（IS）對美國及其中東盟國不再構成威脅，打擊IS就算成功。法新社指出，他似乎是在解釋總統歐巴馬關於「降低IS威脅程度、最終摧毀IS」目標的具體內容。
