首先指出, 幻星大所說的which is是錯誤的, 因為which不用於指人(Tom and Joe); 也不是指living, 因為living這東西不會做re-exploring與finding動作; 更不會是指前面整句, 因為兩人謀生這件事並不是「人」, 也不會做前述二動作.

有很多Ving的句子是分詞與動名詞都說得通的, 亦即有沒有介系詞都正確; 但也有很多句子是分詞或動名詞涇渭分明的. 也就是說, 要看語意來分辨.

我認為本句屬於前者, 有沒有介系詞都通順:
- 介 + 動名詞: 語意是「以xxxx方式」
- 分詞: 是說明背景動作或具體詳情.
