此次比賽共有來自包括台灣、中國、印尼、泰國、柬埔寨、新加坡、馬來西亞七國共十六隊，爭奪「最強」的榮譽和總額高達百萬台幣的總獎金。「呼風喚雨」第一天被分在 A 組，在首勝泰國隊之後，連續過關斬將擊敗馬來西亞、新加坡、印尼和地主柬埔寨，僅僅在與中國隊的比賽中因不慎違反賽制規定而遭判定落敗，第一天賽事結束就以分組第二的氣勢晉級八強，進入第二天比賽。
