高雄美國資料中心 河堤分館揭幕

【記者郭穗綜合報導】美國在台協會〈AIT〉高雄分處處長杜維浩(Robert C. DeWitt) 與高雄市長陳菊將於2014年11月2日在高雄市立圖書館河堤分館為高雄美國資料中心揭幕。

AIT與高雄市立圖書館合作，在2008年7月9日於高雄市立圖書館寶珠分館設立美國資料專區(American Shelf)。之後由於高雄市民的熱情回響，在2009年11月18日擴大設立為高雄美國資料中心(American Corner)，成為南台灣第一個美國資料中心。為提供更優質的閱讀環境及服務，美國在台協會決定將高雄美國資料中心遷移至高雄市立圖書館河堤分館。

美國資料中心除了收藏介紹美國歷史，文學，小說，政府，英語教學，與旅遊等書籍、繪本童書與相關影音光碟之外，也提供電腦、iPad、影音及視訊設備給讀者使用。除此之外，本中心透過定期舉辦各項演講，美語說故事，及展覽活動的方式，使民眾得一窺美國文化與生活。

AIT已經在台北和台中設立了美國資料中心。2013年四月，與天下教育基金會合作推出「行動美國資料中心」。2014/10/31
