（中央社華盛頓5日綜合外電報導）美國總統歐巴馬今天宣布提名前國防部副部長卡特接掌五角大廈，接替上個月請辭的國防部長黑格。

歐巴馬宣布提名卡特（Ashton Carter），接替任職不到兩年即在壓力下辭官的黑格（Chuck Hagel）。

從2011年10月至2013月12間，卡特是五角大廈的第二號人物。他先前曾經是主管軍備採購的首長，也在柯林頓總統時代擔任過主管國際安全政策的助理國防部長。(中央社)
