歐洲聯盟2日表示，埃及的一處法庭判決183人死刑，這是違反埃及國際人權義務的做法。

歐盟發表聲明指出，埃及法庭在一項大規模審判之後，判處183名被告死刑的裁定，違反了埃及的國際人權義務。這項聲明讓人想起歐盟明確的反死刑立場，歐盟認為這是殘酷且不人道的，不能作為一種威嚇作用。

埃及法院2日的這項判決仍可上訴。這些人被控2013年8月在開羅附近殺害13名警察。

埃及法院在2014年12月針對188名被告展開集體審判時，作出初步判決，其中2人在2日獲判無罪，1人被判10年徒刑，還有另外2名被告由於已經死亡後，因此撤回告訴。
