一則關於蘇州將建大陸第一高樓『金雞塔』的消息在網路上熱傳，引起公眾關注。記者從蘇州工業園區管委會獲悉，中南集團確在該區投資建設超高層專案，但最終方案尚未確定。
根據北京晨報報導，網路上熱傳的帖子稱，蘇州東方之門旁，不久將建造一座138層700公尺以上的超高層建築，有望超過規劃中的深圳平安金融中心和在建的武漢綠地中心，成為大陸第一高樓，專案開發商為中南建設。
針對這一消息，專案方中南集團18日在給新華社記者的回覆中表示：該公司確實在蘇州投資建設超高層專案，目前確定名稱為：蘇州中南中心。專案具體位址為星陽街、蘇惠路交界。
記者查閱地圖發現，這一地塊與東方之門直線距離不足1公里。此前，因為外觀酷似一條『秋褲』，蘇州東方之門飽受爭議。
據介紹，中南集團於2012年6月通過招拍掛取得專案，隨後進行了國際性的方案招標，目前網路見到的所謂『金雞塔』方案僅是招標過程中的方案之一，並不是確定方案。到目前為止，蘇州中南中心的最終方案尚未確定。
新聞鏈結 還有多少『第一高樓』？ 武漢綠地中心
越來越多的塔樓在城市中拔地而起，『第一高樓』的名號被各地競相爭搶。原規劃606公尺、『世界第三、大陸第二、中部第一』的武漢綠地中心，正在調整規劃，以打造大陸第一高樓。最新的高度，極有可能是636公尺。為什麼會是636公尺？相關負責人介紹，目前大陸國內在建的最高樓『上海中心』為632公尺，武漢綠地要超越它，至少得加高26公尺。
按規劃，這座矗立在武漢長江南岸的超高層建築將會在2017年完工，其深基坑要挖到地下約30公尺深，連續牆及樁基要打入地下超50公尺深。僅地下工程就要耗時兩年。
值得一提的是，武漢目前在建的『第一高樓』是位於漢口的『武漢中心』，樓高設計約428公尺、88層，這個由泛海國際於2004年12月提出即被批准的專案，目前仍處於施工狀態。
