弗內克將直升機在這些惡劣環境中降落,比喻成在濃霧瀰漫中下降,完全喪失能見度。他表示,這套視線受阻著陸輔助系統技術(Brownout Landing Aid System Technology)在能見度為零的環境下,仍能為飛行員提供「連續性的視覺」。此套系統使用脈衝光測量直升機至物體的距離,並整合了自雷達或雷射光雷達等感應器所獲得的訊息,形成和障礙及地形有關的視覺訊息。
這套系統重量低於50磅,已在軍事試驗飛機上驗證過,證實其有效性。今年8月和10月,該公司預計與美國國防高等研究計劃署(Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency ),展開更深入的飛行試驗,希望能將此技術推銷給美軍,以及法國、中東的客戶。
