二十國集團(G20)峰會定於5日至6日在俄羅斯聖彼得堡舉行。盡管俄羅斯準備充分，與會方積極參與，但敘利亞局勢和「棱鏡」監視專案曝光者史諾登引發的美俄爭執，依然可能為峰會增添不和諧音。

二十國集團(G20)峰會定於5日至6日在俄羅斯聖彼得堡舉行。盡管俄羅斯準備充分，與會方積極參與，但敘利亞局勢和『棱鏡』監視專案曝光者史諾登引發的美俄爭執，依然可能為峰會增添不和諧音。
根據中新網報導，本次峰會主要議題包括促進經濟增長和創造就業崗位等。美國官員已否認，敘利亞局勢將列入本次峰會議程。但俄羅斯官員擔心，這個不參加峰會的國家面臨的危機將沖淡峰會經濟議題。
俄羅斯國家杜馬、即議會下院外交委員會主席阿列克謝 普什科夫在『推特』上寫道：『(美國總統貝拉克 )歐巴馬試圖利用G20峰會為打擊敘利亞正名。』
峰會期間，俄羅斯總統弗拉普京難免要與奧巴馬、法國總統奧朗德和英國首相卡梅倫碰頭。
盡管英國議會下院已投票否決卡梅倫提交的軍事幹預敘利亞沖突動議，歐巴馬也在尋求國會對軍事打擊敘利亞的支持，但這兩人與奧朗德依然力挺軍事支持敘利亞反對派。
德新社評論，作為敘利亞總統巴沙爾 阿薩德政權的支持者，普京在峰會期間不太可能成功扮演調停者的角色。
令局面更加複雜的是，一名白宮高級官員上月30日說，歐巴馬參加G20峰會期間不會與普京舉行雙邊會晤，『與其說這是對俄羅斯的訪問，倒不如說是參加G20峰會之旅。俄羅斯碰巧承辦此次會議』。
自俄羅斯為史諾登提供臨時避難後，上述強硬立場被解讀為歐巴馬按下美俄關係『暫停鍵』的另一信號。一些分析師認為，普歐關係進入前所未有的低潮。
