記者從大陸國家國防科工局獲悉，執行探月工程嫦娥三號任務的長征三號乙遙二十三火箭，今天從北京啟程搭乘專列前往西昌衛星發射中心，計劃11月1日抵達發射場。

根據科技日報報導，長征三號乙遙二十三運載火箭為捆綁式三級液體運載火箭，由大陸航天科技集團公司所屬大陸運載火箭技術研究院為主研製。與發射嫦娥二號衛星的火箭相比，這枚火箭採用了多項新技術，進行了多項技術狀態更改，突破了多視窗、窄寬度發射和高精度入軌技術，進一步提高了可靠性和安全性。

火箭進場後，將陸續展開有關裝配和測試工作。已於9月12日進入西昌衛星發射中心的嫦娥三號探測器，目前各項測試工作進展順利，嫦娥三號任務準備工作正有序展開。

探月工程是大陸16項國家科技重大專項之一，承擔『落月』任務的嫦娥三號是探月工程『繞、落、回』三步走中的關鍵一步，將實現大陸航天器首次地外天體軟著陸和月面巡視勘察，具有重要的里程碑意義。嫦娥三號任務自2008年2月立項以來，先後經歷了21個月的方案設計、26個月的初樣研製、20個月的正樣研製，目前蓄勢待發。
