英國《每日郵報》報導，一名資深匿名航空專家主張，MH370失蹤最有可能的原因是駕駛打算自殺，因此拉高飛行高度，讓乘客缺氧昏迷。

這項主張的根據是，飛機駕駛艙最後一次語音通訊後，軍事雷達追蹤的飛行高度在43000英尺到45000英尺之間。而此機型的高度上限是43100英尺。

專家說，飛機在此高度下飛行23分鐘才下降，但機內氧氣在12分鐘內就會全部流失，讓乘客失去意識。
