台鐵編號655車次莒光號列車，於今(1)日上午6時56分開抵新竹火車站時，第5節車廂突然起火，列車立即停駛並將民眾疏散。

根據《TVBS新聞台》報導，該列車在抵達新竹站時，疑似車軸過熱導致第5車廂起火冒煙，意外發生當時，台鐵緊急疏散旅客，安排旅客更換車廂或改搭其他班次，並無人員傷亡
