梵蒂岡不再釋和平鴿改放氣球

美聯社報導，梵蒂岡的聖伯多祿廣場25日改變多年來的傳統，以施放氣球取代釋放鴿子，象徵和平。

美聯社說，天主教會自前教宗若望保祿二世任內開始，把一月的主題訂為和平，且多年來教會按慣例在一月最後一個周日，讓兒童與教宗一起觀看聖伯多祿廣場釋放一對和平鴿儀式。但在去年，飛到空中的和平鴿遭海鷗及烏鴉襲擊，引發動物保護團體的抗議。

教宗方濟各為此從善如流，決定不再釋放和平鴿，改為施放氣球。25日當聖伯多祿廣場的兒童施放氣球（包括一個熱氣球）時，方濟各說：「這是代表『和平』的氣球。」
