香港七校學者 聯署質疑警察

香港七間大專院校的學者，就七一遊行之後有大專學生參與佔領遮打道的活動被警方拘捕及拘留發表聲明，指支持市民堅守信念，以公民抗命的手段，捍衛民主及公義。

學者聲明中，質疑香港警方大規模拘捕行動的處理手法是不專業，認為無必要及浪費警力。

聯署的學者們呼籲，大學校長及管理層聲明保護學者及學生的言論自由及公民抗命權，並為他們提供協助。

香港大學有十四名大學生被警察拘捕，其中包括香港學聯秘書長周永康。香港大學校長馬斐森明確表示，若學聯秘書長周永康被控告，他願意為周永康撰寫求情書，並指自己極關心學生的安危，會確保港大職員會繼續對被捕同學提供支援。
