沒錯，語言深受約定俗成的影響，就像「Long time no see」，大家講多了，錯的也變成對的。就像以下所舉的這幾句商用英語，我們習以為常，對方似乎也都聽得懂，沒什麼溝通障礙，但你知道嗎？它們真的有問題！下次在說這些句子時，請試著調整一下，讓你的英文聽起來更道地。

她今天排休假。
(X) She is having a holiday today.
(O) She is taking leave today.
holiday是指大家都休假的「公定假日」，如果指的是「個人休假」，應該用leave這個字才對。例：Bill is on sick leave. May I take a message for you? 比爾在休病假，要我幫您留話嗎？

我的主管今早前往日本了。
(X) My supervisor left to Japan this morning.
(O) My supervisor left for Japan this morning.
從原本的所在地動身前往另一個目的地，可以說go to或者leave for，兩者的介系詞請勿混淆。例：We are leaving for New York next Monday. 我們將在下週一啟程前往紐約。
