由前任與現任國民黨立委共組的「情義聯誼會」今晚在晶華酒店餐敘，立法院長王金平也受邀。王金平表示，國家需要每個國民團結努力，營造國家好的前途。

據轉述，王金平進場與大家握手打招呼時，現場「選總統」勸進聲四起，陳根德、黃義交等人也「拱王」參選。

陳根德表示，席間有人勸進王金平，但王金平沒有表示。立委李鴻鈞說，王長期在立法院帶領大家，如今國家需要，眾人都很期待王金平「繼續帶領大家」。

王金平約莫停留1小時後離席，他笑答，「已經忘記大家講什麼。」至於有立委稱「國家需要他」，王表示，國家需要每個國民共同合作，團結努力，營造國家好的前途。
