由於自由時報報導指稱，民進黨前主席蔡英文致電馬英九總統，要求在核四停建的前提下，才可進行國是會議。在分別遭蔡英文辦公室與總統府的反駁後，自由發言人蘇宇暉13日對蔡英文表達歉意，並表示將做出更正。
根據《自由時報》報導，馬英九總統昨日抵達紐約後參加僑宴，與會者轉述表示，馬原本要和在野黨舉行國是會談，卻在出國前接到蔡英文來電表示，這次會談須以停建核四為前提，造成國是會議無法進行。
不過，蔡英文辦公室在報導刊出後當天便發表聲明否認去電，質疑《自由》僅單方面引述僑領說法，未向蔡英文方面求證，有誤導之嫌，因此要求自由時報道歉與更正。
總統府發言人李佳霏也說，該篇報導內容未經查證，且與事實不符，馬總統在僑宴中根本未提及曾就此事接獲蔡英文來電。
《自由時報》發言人蘇宇暉對此說，報導是根據與會僑領事後轉述，但確實與事實有所出入，他坦承蔡英文未在馬總統出訪前致電，《自由》將刊登更正啟事，並向蔡英文與讀者致歉。
