年底嘉義市長選戰，有意爭取國民黨提名的前青輔會主委陳以真、市議員張秀華、市議員郭明賓等3人已完成黨內初選登記，不過也表態參選的嘉義市農會總幹事蕭淑麗，則以「不信任初選」為由，重申不會投入黨內初選。

此次嘉義市長選舉藍綠雙方都是競爭者眾，綠營方面的爭取者包括前衛生署長涂醒哲、民進黨嘉義市黨部主委黃露慧、人權律師曾錦源、嘉義市消保會理事長陳英華等人，前台聯不分區立委許忠信也是可能的人選之一。

藍營方面則已經有陳以真、張秀華、郭明賓等3人完成黨內初選登記，其中前青輔會主委陳以真最受矚目，她今天上午由在地青年陪同下完成初選登記，一行人高喊「青年子弟兵，以真來打拚；青年來努力，共創新嘉義！嘉義，有以真好！」等口號。

此外，也公開表態將參選的嘉義市農會總幹事蕭淑麗，則因為質疑黨內初選制度，因此不會投入初選；蕭淑麗說，她在8年前登記參加立委補選黨內初選，最後卻被勸退，這個經驗讓她「不信任初選」。
