疾病管制署今公布高雄市今年首例日本腦炎病例，為今年第七例，目前所有個案年齡均在40歲以上。個案為42歲男性，因發燒、意識改變等症狀就醫治療，目前仍於呼吸照護中心住院治療中。

此個案住家附近有養鴿戶，距住家附近兩公里處有養豬戶，衛生局人員將持續調查並執行掛燈誘捕病媒蚊等防治工作，並加強附近民眾教育宣導及適齡兒童日本腦炎疫苗催種。

疾管署表示，六月與七月是日本腦炎流行高峰，民眾應謹慎防蚊，並避免在黃昏與黎明時段接近豬舍、動物畜舍、水田及灌溉溝渠。
