總統馬英九、副總統吳敦義、新北市長朱立倫在除夕夜到法鼓山參加撞鐘祈福法會，並與法鼓山方丈和尚果東法師共同揭示年度社會關懷主題「光明遠大」。馬總統想起　聖嚴法師曾說，「自求心安，就有平安，關懷他人，就有幸福」；總統期盼國人都能從鐘聲中得到啟發與動能，持續關懷社會、關懷每一個人。

馬吳朱參與撞鐘106至108響，圓滿後，果東法師期勉大眾，「以慈悲關懷人、以智慧處理事、以和樂同生活、以尊敬相對待」。

果東法師並以「正向八望」祝福共勉：「人難免有期望，但要節制慾望，千萬不要奢望，未來要有展望，永遠不要失望，心更不要絕望，堅定擁抱願望，才能充滿希望」。

馬總統致詞表示，民國97年起到今年，他連續8年參加撞鐘法會，　聖嚴法師所說的「心安平安」，讓他印象深刻，一直留在心中。

總統希望，大家從每一響鐘聲中，感受到平安與幸福，都能從鐘聲中得到啟發與動能，持續關懷社會，關懷每一個人。

法鼓文理學院校長惠敏法師則以4個碩士學程名稱獻上祝福，「生命教育安身心，社區再造安家園，社會企業安經濟，環境發展安地球」。
