李光耀早預言　中國不樂見香港太民主

已故的新加坡前總理李光耀眼光精準，早就預見中國與香港關係的微妙變化，1992年李光耀訪問香港期間曾受媒體訪問，他表示，中國擔心受到香港民主化的衝擊，因為中國根本不想讓香港成為中國大陸的政治模範，中國只想要香港成為經濟模範，結合民主與自由市場，造成香港的繁榮，就是挑戰中國大陸的制度。

李光耀也說，中共當年同意香港50年不變，是因為香港具有經濟價值，他直言不諱說「50年後，你認為中國會讓香港與廣東有分別嗎？」（國際中心/綜合外電報導）
