參與北藝大新媒體藝術學系講師王福瑞策劃的《超響2009：發聲體》是張永達第一次和畫廊合作，在此之前，張永達的作品多在美術館和替代空間展出。

從最新創作「Seen/Unseen」計畫或可看出張永達作品的嚴肅面，該計畫發想自他2011年在東京駐村時遇到311地震後的一連串思考，第一部是去（2012）年底在北藝大關渡美術館展出的《Between Seen/Unseen》，第二部是今年畫廊周在新苑展出的《Seen/Unseen - hyper.data》。

張永達說自己從以前就關注比較隱性的現象或訊息，這些訊息可能存在日常生活或日常用品中卻為人忽略，「Seen /Unseen」雖以地震為主題，但還是在講「那個不可證的東西」，「那個不可證的東西並不是視覺的，而是觸覺或聽覺的。」
