老虎、皇家的美聯中區首位割喉戰，薛澤(Max Scherzer)與薛爾茲(James Shields)兩大王牌投手先發對決，結果薛澤7局失1分，技壓薛爾茲6.2局失3分的投球內容，終場老虎以3比2獲勝，分區領先已擴大至2.5場。

薛澤只在5局挨皇家開路先鋒艾斯柯巴(Alcides Escobar)適時安打掉1失，7局被敲7安打，投出6次三振，拿下第17勝(5敗)。艾斯柯巴此役敲出4支安打，卻無法幫助皇家贏球。
