台中市長胡志強早上到清水區參與道路落成典禮，有地方民代，包含市議員蘇麗華及區長顏秋月等人，都表示胡志強其實只做三年，拱胡志強表態參選連任。胡志強表示，再參選不違法，但他需要時間思考。

胡志強表示，民主政治國家中，對地方首長的任期都有法律規定，目前台中市為院轄市，與以往不同，更不能連結，對於原台中縣來說，「我才做一任」，但市長可以做二任，明明是這樣規定，卻有人將此膨脹或扭曲，但那是個人言論自由，相信選民的眼睛是雪亮的。

胡志強說，他很想為大台中努力，有使命感，但還需要時間思考，若有人比他更好，他也不一定非做不可，但是國民黨在台中非贏不可。
