針對國立成大為新落成廣場舉辦命名票選，「南榕廣場」獲得最高票，但昨天校務會議卻以70比21票決議取消廣場命名，成大歷史系教授王文霞更在校務會議中批評自焚身亡的政治異議人士鄭南榕「很像伊斯蘭的自殺炸彈客」，引發爭議。對此，民進黨立委李應元今（16）日舉行記者會表示，校方一連串違反民主的作為，讓人覺得警總的幽靈在成大再現。

李應元說，校方推翻掉之前的票選結果，對校園民主做了非常不好的示範。歷史系王文霞教授的發言，更令人擔心她偏狹反動的史觀，如何教育學生。

李應元並指出，王文霞還擔任教育部高中歷史課程綱要制定委員會委員，考試院國家考試典試委員。真令人擔心會教出什麼樣的學生？ 選拔出什麼樣的公務員？

李應元表示，他將調查教育部在整個事件中是否政治施壓成大，王文霞在歷史課程綱要制定委員會中，是否將其偏狹錯誤的史觀，硬納入高中教材中。此外，他也呼籲，教育部應思考成功大學校長黃煌煇是否適任。
