高雄氣爆事件釀重大災難，高雄市長陳菊5日傍晚表示，「災區任何危險管線將永久不能回填、禁止回復使用」。她也強調，為確保市民安全，避免影響重建作業，所有業者務必清除管線內殘留石化原料，安檢不合格之管線，將一律禁用。

氣爆事件進入第六天，針對外界關心管線回填的問題，陳菊鄭重表示，所有危險管線均不能再回復使用。同時，為使重建工程可以迅速、安全進行，高雄市府環保局務必會同交通局、經發局、勞工局嚴格把關，用最嚴謹的管制，保障市民的安全。外來，高雄市區內其他工業管線，也將需送市府申報，進行全面安全檢驗，不合格管線將立即禁用。

根據高雄市政府資料顯示，截至5日為止，81氣爆社會救助專戶已累計捐款金額達10億4仟385萬元。對此，陳菊對外表達感謝各界對高雄的愛心與支持，所有捐助善款，將公開透明，倘有指名捐助對象，將第一時間處理，使家屬感受社會溫暖；對於罹難家屬，陳菊表達感同身受之意，指示高雄市府同仁同步投入協助重建與關懷家屬。

陳菊提醒，欲返家清理的災區民眾，一切能以安全優先，避免屋內懸掛物晃動掉落砸傷，或危險物品造成二次危害。
