中研院士廖國男獲美國羅傑‧雷維爾勳章

中研院院士廖國男博士獲得今年美國地球物理聯盟（American Geophysical Union, AGU）之羅傑‧雷維爾勳章（Roger Revelle Medal），表彰廖國男在大氣輻射及氣候方面的貢獻。頒獎儀式於今年12月在美國舊金山舉辦。

廖國男為美國加州大學洛杉磯分校（UCLA）區域地球系統科學暨工程研究所創始所長，該所致力於研究並發展全球氣候變遷與其對區域性氣候與環境衝擊之研究專案。

廖國男近年專注於輻射傳輸與高山覆雪地區之衛星遙測技術，同時他的研究亦涵蓋這些區域黑炭與塵埃的沉積，以及它與地表溫度和融雪加大之相互效應和反饋的影響。
